be a real mccoy

I had always considered the Buzz Rickson x William Gibson MA-1 as “the” definitive flight jacket.  My opinion was further solidified after reading about how the item came to be.  William Gibson’s character Cayce Pollard in the novel Pattern Recognition always wore a black Buzz Rickson MA-1, an item that Buzz Rickson’s had never made.  Buzz Rickson received so many requests for the MA-1 in black following the book’s release that they ended up working with Mr. Gibson on a collection and made Cayce’s jacket a real item.  And what a beauty it is:

Blue In Green has received a shipment of goods from infamous The Real McCoy’s and the MA-1 “Dobbs” looks to rival Cayce Pollard’s.  It opts for the original olive color but still features all the incredible details.  It’s also bit more expensive than the Buzz Rickson x William Gibson version, but if you are going for authenticity, look no further.

Pick it up from Blue In Green (or the BR x WG version) here.

Uhh… why are they “infamous” ?

  2. They are well regarded for making quality reproduction pieces. They may not be setting the trends but when they do produce something, you know it’s going to be of only the highest quality. Hence, the infamous-ness.
